Just Days Before Christmas, I Finally Got The NES Classic Edition – S12E06

The NES Classic Edition is one of the hot sellers of 2016 and a must get for Christmas. I was able to get it at EB Games on December 22nd and they had a minimum of 4 per store. It goes to show how crazy buyers and video games fans are trying to scoop up this retro video game system.

I wasn’t trying hard enough to finding it when it was released in late November but I was convinced by my brother to get it. It was quite the hunt to finding the product around stores. A nice way to get it before Christmas.

Changes to the Blog
Just to let everyone know that WildWorks.ca shifted to a web hosting service. The reason for it being that I bought web hosting for the lion dance website and with the shared hosting, I can also use up to 3 websites. I might as well move my blog as WordPress.com has given me limited ability to style the pages and having some complications. It will be powered by WordPress.org, which gives me more freedom with using plugins.
At the moment, some of the older entries are missing photos and other content. The migration will take awhile and I will probably have a new theme layout sometime in 2017.

Wanting to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

2 Hours Being On The Radio For Monday – S05E03

In The On-Air Studio at CKCU-FM
It was totally an awesome Monday because I got to co-host not only Horses Spilled Milk, but also Kristal’s Method on CKCU 93.1 FM. I won’t try to write a lot as I provided the audio from both shows, which you can only listen and not download. I hope I don’t get in trouble for it. It’s for my friends who missed out listening to me live.

A summary of Horses Spilled Milk were discussing about The Beatles, The Balconies (read the previous blog entry), a bit on TV Shows (vampire related shows) and the Kanye WestTaylor Swift incident at the 2009 MTV VMAs. It was nice to talk about pop culture. The lovely and main co-host, Erica, had to leave for class after the intro. I had to fill-in for this crazy edition of Horses Spilled Milk.

For Kristal’s show, it was relaxed as we briefly discussed a bit of the Polaris Music Prize Gala for next week, ticket prices at concerts, and some Metric talk. If you are wondering about the second last song being played, here’s the music video provided at the bottom of this entry. I saw the music video on The Wedge on MuchMusic not too long ago. Trust me, you will find the music video hilarious. Think About Life is an electronic-indie rock band from Montreal.

Hope you will enjoy listening to it. Apologies on the sound quality as I don’t know what happened when using Adobe Audition.

Finally Tried Street Fighter IV – S04E17

Playing Street Fighter IV at Friend's House
Yep, I finally got a chance to play Street Fighter IV on the Sony PlayStation 3 at a friend’s house on Thursday night. It was great to see my friend because we haven’t hung around for awhile due to his work and other things. There you see a lame photo of myself playing SF4. What did I think of the game? The graphics are nice and the moveset has been the same except for the changes to the Super moves. It was a confusing to know that there is a new combo called Ultra Combo and another new feature called Focus Attacks. Overall, it’s the same Street Figther and I was happy to Ken, Chun-Li and others. The question remains, which console system to get; PS3 or Xbox 360? I am still having a difficult time on what to choose because of Street Fighter IV.

Who Watches The Watchmen? It’s unlikely I will be getting a chance to watch The Watchmen in theatres because my bro is refusing to go see it with me and I think various friends will be watching it at their planned times. Plus, this friend of mine is still in Boston and wish to watch it with him since we are comic fans. Furthermore, I still haven’t read through my copy of The Watchmen (Absolute Edition) because it’s an oversized hardcover and I am very delicate in keeping my books in good shape.

TV Watching. I am still hooked on watching lots of Gordon Ramsay shows. From The F Word (Food Network Canada link) to Hell’s Kitchen, I am totally hooked on the famous chef swearing alot. I am also watching Survivor: Tocantins and for the life of me, why?! I guess there is not much to watch on Thursday nights but I don’t watch it LIVE because I just record it and watch it later. Thank goodness to PVR.
Another show I really enjoy is CBC’s Being Erica. It’s an excellent series because I wish I could time travel and fix up my own mistake. What’s surprising is that they play Pop music and it’s a Canadian show. It kind of bring me back memories knowing certain songs.

Birthday Fun – S04E15

Group Shot at Bruce Pit
It was my birthday on Friday, February 20. All I can say that I had an enjoyable time because there were some friends coming over. There was pizza and candies hovering around the house. My bro’s friends played Rock Band 2 and it was a great time. One of his friends decided to sing the attrocious song by System of a Down (my opinion). I had a total laugh because the way he sang and how much I forgot about that band. The next day, I needed some rest and relaxation because the effects of playing Rock Band 2 was bad. I was feeling so dizzy that it wasn’t funny.
On Sunday, I went along with my bro to Bruce Pit for tobogganing/sledding. Before that, my bro’s friends needed to walk the dogs. It was astonishing to see alot of people walking their dogs. All in all, it was cute to see some dogs around. Onto the sledding part, I couldn’t believe that it is not as fun when I was young because walking up the hill was grueling. I had snow all over me and I was out of breath from walking up. I took a couple of runs down the hill and the first time, I had snow all over my face. There were some comedic moments when I slid down. Afterward, it was lunch at East Side Mario’s and luckily, no pie in the face after the birthday song that they usually do.
In a way, I totally enjoyed the events from the weekend. Hopefully I won’t be sore the next day because the sledding took a lot of energy.

Last thing, I have been ‘twittering’, here’s my Twitter, http://twitter.com/wildworks

Been a Sparse November – S04E07

At The Rainbow Bistro on November 20, 2008It has been almost several weeks since going to a concert in Ottawa. Aside from the Ottawa Food & Wine Show from 2 weeks ago, I haven’t gone to any fun and interesting concerts lately. On Thursday night, I went to The Rainbow Bistro to check out The Balconies, who were one of the opening or ending acts for Whale Tooth. Another band that perform was Under The Weather. Overall, I enjoyed Whale Tooth and The Balconies as both bands brought some dynamic energy to their performances. Finally, The Balconies get a good crowd after usually being the opener acts at other concerts.
Here’s a silly photo my brother took using someone’s Canon EOS 5D. Pointing or thumbing at one of the members of The Balconies.

Oh yea, I am happy to get Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series on DVD. I have not got a chance to look at the special features and listen to the audio commentaries for the episodes.
Another yearly tradition is getting toques at Roots.
I am still video gaming with Guitar Hero World Tour on the Nintendo Wii but I hear so much talk of people playing Gears of War 2 and this zombie game on Xbox 360, Left 4 Dead.
That’s all for now.

Meeting Bands and Dealing With Snow in March – S3E13

I apologize for not having an entry for March and here I am trying to write an entry. All I can say that it has been a crazy time with the free time I still have. There were a lot of things happening with this timeline.

March 7, I went to a friend’s birthday dinner at the last minute and then went clubbing later on. Worse part was getting back home at 4am. I got less sleep and it was on the eve and start of the big snowstorm. Here’s link via Flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157604072720403/

March 8
, I had a lion dance performance at Hilton Lac Leamy in Gatineau, QC. This was during the massive snowstorm that blanketed Ontario to the Maritimes. Here is the link to the photos, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157604077374547/

March 9
, I got Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii, ’nuff said. Let’s say that it was after the massive snowstorm and was barely able to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

March 10
, I got a chance to meet Immaculate Machine (pictured above) at an in-store performance. The band members are nice and I had a chance to chat with them before and after the concert. Here are photos from the performance, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157604095038057/.

March 13
, I went to The National Gallery of Canada for this event called “Are You In?” It was a March Break event for the teens. I know I am not a teen but I came out in support of Amanda Putz and to check out The Love Machine because they are getting played on CBC Radio 3. I also got to see former MuchMusic VJ/host, Jennifer Hollett at the event. What I didn’t know was that Amanda Putz had CBC Radio 3 goodies and I wanted to get the Castro, I mean Freedom hat, but I got a R3 t-shirt and R3 buttons with the 4 mascots instead. Here are photos from the event, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157604110756164/

Coming up, I will be seeing Immaculate Machine again on Good Friday as they will be with Ladyhawk at Zaphod Beeblebrox. On Thursday March 27, I cannot wait to check out Basia Bulat again but at Zaphod Beeblebrox. Hopefully she still remembers from the Hayden concert back in January.
In early April, I will finally get to go to the Stars concert at the Bronson Centre.
That’s all for now.
