In this blog entry, this was one of my favourite moments in Hong Kong because I got to meet up a friend who I haven’t seen and kept in touch for several years.

After arriving and settling in the quarantine hotel, my Apple Watch sounds off a notification and to my surprise, it was the friend who messaged me out of the blue. The funny thing was that I almost forgot to contact her. Good thing I posted some updates on my Facebook as I leaving Canada and arriving to Hong Kong.

The friend used to live in Ottawa for a couple of years and later moved to Hong Kong to work full time. We scheduled when to meet up and catch up. It took a few weeks to get things scheduled.

On the day before Mid-Autumn Festival, we decided to wander around the streets of Hong Kong. Started at Tsim Sha Tsui and stopped at a renown ice cream truck. I didn’t know about Mister Softee as it is Hong Kong’s famous ice cream. I enjoyed the ice cream and good to cool off since Hong Kong at the time was very hot.

We then went on the Star Ferry and took some videos of the night shot of Hong Kong. Stopped at ifc Mall in Central and I somewhat forgot about Tim Ho Wan. It’s Hong Kong’s dim sum restaurant which was awarded a Michelin Star and for being the cheapest dim sum restaurant.

After that, we took the tram (known at Hong Kong Tramways) to Lee Tung Avenue. At Lee Tung Avenue, they had the Sea of Lanterns: Blissful Mid-Autumn Reunion. There were about 800 lanterns displayed and it looked wonderful at night. You will see the video of it below.

We then wandered around Central and decided to check out Lan Kwai Fong. It is Hong Kong’s nightlife district. When I last went to Hong Kong a long time ago, I didn’t get a chance to check out LKF. The funny thing when stopping by was it wasn’t busy and it was likely because we walked at around 9pm.

After checking out LKF, we went for noodles. My cousin recommended me Kau Kee Noodles from his website. We got there in the nick of time and got the noodles. They had to close by 10:30pm and there was another person who came in and dined in for noodles as well. The service was fast and the noodles were good.

It was a fun time because it’s rare for me to see friends live in another city and get a chance to meet up. Overall, it was great catching up and enjoy being at another city. It was one of my memorable moments in Hong Kong.

People like 20YS and eepmon are good friends and got along well with her. It’s nice to know connections from one another.
