Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Ottawa Bluesfest
The day after Ottawa Bluesfest, I had the opportunity to fill in on-air at CKCU-FM from 5-6pm. I somewhat stumbled speaking on-air and hopefully it wasn’t a problem. I called it the WildWorks Show and I failed to mention my support of Canadian indie music. I know I played two non-Canadian tracks but I just love Zero by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Here’s the player to listen for anyone who missed it:
Here is the playlist.

Some “highlights” was mentioning the artists playing at Ottawa Bluesfest. Made fun of Jacquie Neville of The Balconies because she goes to uOttawa. Not sure if she’s finished there. Mentioning Rebekah Higgs and her radio show (link from NxEW) in Halifax’s CKDU. I made shoutouts to the Horses Spilled Milk gang (Corey and Erica), Dennis Molnar of Fundamentally Sound, Kristal Felea of Kristal’s Method and the CKCU gang for helping and giving me an opportunity to try out being on-air on short notice.
It was nerve-wrecking but fun to host a radio show. Hopefully I could do it again on a fill-in basis. I prefer being co-host and then gradually be solo host.
I like to have a response on how I did on-air. Just leave a comment and give me ways to improve next time.

Ottawa Bluesfest Wrap-up
Here’s the link to the photos I took during Yeah Yeah Yeahs, on the final day of the 2009 edition of Ottawa Bluesfest, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621720032028/. All I can say that Karen O was amazing and the flying giant eyeball bouncing through the crowd was a funny sight to see. It was great to listen to Zero but the worse part was breaking the point & shoot digital camera. At least it wasn’t the DSLR camera or else I would be in big trouble. Overall, Yeah Yeah Yeahs ended Ottawa Bluesfest on a high note.

How could I forget about the Apple Store in Rideau Centre?
I forgot to mention that I had a chance to check Apple Store Rideau on Saturday, July 18. I was one of the 1000 people in line to get the free t-shirt from the Apple Store in Rideau Centre. It was loud and raucous before the store opened. It was great to see one of people that I know working at the new store. Finally, an Apple Store outside of the Toronto corridor. What I got? Just an external hard drive with Firewire 800. It’s not for me, for my bro and his photos with a faster transfer.
I took a few photos and for the life of me, it seems to be getting lots of hits than the Ottawa Bluesfest photos, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621557057767/
Who’s ever said that Ottawa is boring? It has been the most interesting July so far.
