Time for Winter, Time for a New Parka – S12E05

The Signature Parka
It was a week after Black Friday and being a Hudson’s Bay fanatic, they had a one day sale for the Hudson’s Bay Collection products. This particular jacket caught my interest and it has been released since September. Just in time for Winter, it’s the Hudson’s Bay Collection Signature Parka.

Regular price at $499 (Canadian), on that Friday (December 2nd), it was on sale for $299. I couldn’t pass up on the deal since I was in need of a new winter jacket. The previous winter jacket has shown some wear and tear. There’s no to continue wearing it for Winter 2016 and 2017.

The HBC Signature Parka looks very stylish with the famous multistripes. There’s several pockets and two drawcords for the hood and waist. The fur from the hood is coyote. It’s puffy throughout the jacket but more noticeable in the bottom. I have worn it inside the house and it got pretty warm.

I can’t wait to wear it outside as Ottawa got some snow and hope to keep it in good care and have it last for years to come.

It Has To Be a YOW mini – S11E26

YOWmini Main

Tuesday night at Stoneface Dolly’s, there was an event called YOW mini. It was hosted by YOW City Style and Maria Saracino. This exhibit combined the fashionable people of Ottawa and mixed it with sculptures in a miniaturized form.

It’s the who’s who of Ottawa from bloggers, fashionistas, musicians and the local business people.

The sculptures were based on photos shot by the creator of YOW City Style. It’s also to celebrate the blog’s one year anniversary.

At the event, there were bite sized apps by Stoneface Dolly’s, some treats by Little Jo Berry and cocktail drinks by Renew Cold Press.

It was a privilege to meet with Katie of Yow City Style as she’s pretty active on social media with the postings.

Don’t forget to check out the photos from the event. Continue reading

The Glamour Fashion Show by Marcelle Benedicte – S10E25

Glamour Main

Marcelle Benedicte presented a glamourous fashion show which was conveniently called Glamour. The theme for the event was inspired by the old days of Hollywood. The fashion show was held at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts. Marcelle Benedicte has now presented five fashion shows in Ottawa.

There were designers that participated in the event were Sidow Designs, Peach Berserk (from Toronto), L’Hexagone Menswear, Aria Frances and lastly, Marcelle Benedicte. Each ranged from the elegance (Sidow Designs, Aria Frances and Marcelle Benedicte) to the contemporary (L’Hexagone) to the pop culture look (Peach Berserk).

It was an excellent night to enjoy the fashion show and chat with a few people. Kudos to Émilie Parisé, the founder of Marcelle Benedicte to keeping the Ottawa fashion scene going.

A Fashion Show on Saturday Afternoon – S10E23

MB Spring Fashion 2015 Frame

Sante Restaurant presented their spring fashion show on Saturday afternoon and the second in their series was by Marcelle Benedicte. Marcelle Benedicte showed off a sneak peak of the Spring/Summer 2015 collection to the restaurant. The colour from the dresses brought the essence of Spring arriving, which is quite fitting as people in Ottawa have been suffering with the frigid cold temperatures from old man Winter.

Aside from the creative dresses, there were jewelry from Originals by Andrea and makeup provided by Orchid Cosmetics. For the men’s side, there were provided by L’Hexagon Menswear. The best thing of all are that they’re done locally in Ottawa. Which stuck out for me? There were one with pinstripes and a yellow dress which caught my attention as they looked lovely and amazing. It’s what makes Marcelle Benedicte interesting as it brings it own creativity for ready-to-wear clothing. It shows excitement and the beauty of creating the designs. What’s next for Marcelle Benedict is a fashion show for May 30th. It will be a can’t miss event.

I was able to shoot some Impossible Project instant photos but two photos didn’t turn out very well. As you know that I have another Polaroid SX-70 camera, which got repaired thanks to Mint Camera. I’m having some trouble using it as I have press the red button two times. The SX-70 will have to be used for outdoors. The instant photos are posted below.
