It’s very rare to travel to the east end of Ottawa known as Orleans. The reason for going all the way was to try out a sushi restaurant called Nagi Sushi.

Location is on 2208 St Joseph Blvd. The restaurant opened in March 2024. It’s by the former sushi chef from C’est Japon à Suisha, known as Suisha Gardens in downtown Ottawa.

Upon entering the restaurant, it’s shown with bright easing colours and it wasn’t jarring. The space is small and was able to get a table of two since there were several reserved tables.

What was ordered were Karaage Chicken, which was Japanese fried chicken. It came out piping hot which was good and the flavour didn’t have some seasoning which was fine. It didn’t need to have a salty taste to begin with the appetizer.

The one ordered was their Sashimi Large Platter. It was a 30 assorted pieces picked by the chef for the day.

Another reason to go to Nagi Sushi was to try the real wasabi. Known as rhizome, it is a wasabi root where you have to grate the wasabi and it comes out with a mushy texture. The taste was creamy, earthy and it still had a burning sensation. It’s not as bas as the usual wasabi that is used in restaurants and sold at supermarkets.

Posted below are photo and video from Nagi Sushi.

It definitely worth going to the east end if you’re willing to travel. Reservations is recommended as the place is small.
