Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Bluesfest and Filling-In On Air at CKCU-FM [Summer Entry]

Note: Off-season blog entry.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Ottawa Bluesfest
The day after Ottawa Bluesfest, I had the opportunity to fill in on-air at CKCU-FM from 5-6pm. I somewhat stumbled speaking on-air and hopefully it wasn’t a problem. I called it the WildWorks Show and I failed to mention my support of Canadian indie music. I know I played two non-Canadian tracks but I just love Zero by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Here’s the player to listen for anyone who missed it:

A Reminder to Check My Summer Page and a Bluesfest Entry [Summer Entry]

Note: Off-season entry.

With Casey of Elliott Brood

I want to remind people that this blog on a Summer hiatus, I created a Summer page for what I have done lately. Here’s the link again, http://wildworks.wordpress.com/summer2009.
I was able to renew my Flickr account to Pro as I am able to keep providing photos for future entries.

Canada Day – July 1

On Canada Day, I was where the “smaller musical acts preforming at Major’s Hill” for the first part of the afternoon. Quote taken from Apt613.
In case if anyone doesn’t know about the Summer page, I posted a link to my Canada Day photos, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157620834245226/.

Ottawa Bluesfest Time (for Week 1)

Several Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest photos are up.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621219759012/ (Bluesfest in the Byward for July 9, 2009), http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621256447478/ (Arrested Development). Photo from above was after Elliott Brood’s late night concert at Pier 21. It was a rowdy, romp and sweaty performance. The crowd danced and jumped like crazy and I decided to join in the fun later on. Overall, an excellent performance from Elliott Brood and the opening act, The Soiree (I forgot to mention the band opening up). I was surprised to see people I met from other concerts in Ottawa.
Before checking Arrested Development, I did check out the end of The Proclaimers at Bluesfest in the Byward and yes, I did hear I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). Yes, I remember the word, “I would walk 500 miles”.
Loads of photos from Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest consisting of The Balconies, Sunparlour Players, Land of Talk, Jenn Grant and Thunderheist. Taken on July 12, 2009. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621240992777/. In a way, the only band repping from the 613 that I checked out were The Balconies (not covered on Apt613). I missed out on other Ottawa bands playing at Bluesfest.
There’s Ohbijou at Zaphod Beeblebrox as part of Bluesfest in the Byward. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621384834754/
Basia Bulat at Mavericks on July 13, 2009 (Last day of Bluesfest in the Byward): http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenny-wu/sets/72157621437296332/.

Happy Summer to all.
